Choice boards are graphic organizers that allows students to choose how they will learn and how they will express what they know in authentic ways.
Choice boards are effective tools when they provide multiple modes/pathways, difficulty levels, and accessibility tools.
💡SET CLEAR GOALS: Students know what the standard is and can see it through multiple pathways.
💡ACCESS & EQUITY: Content in a variety of formats and difficulty levels so that all students have access to content. Teachers can build supports and scaffolds into the choice board by hyperlinking resources.
💡 ENGAGE & MOTIVATE: Builds on students' strengths and interests to provide motivation for work competition.
💡CREATE SAFE SPACES: Students are allowed to work in an environment that feels safe and comfortable to them.
💡STUDENT AGENCY & OWNERSHIP: Having choice is a powerful motivator in supporting students in their understanding of themselves as learners.
💡STUDENT SELF REGULATION & ASSESSMENT: Create a culture where students consistently reflect on the learning process and assessments so they become self directed learners.
