Grade 5
Pursue:Students read, view, and listen to different materials for a variety of purposes.
· I can speak, write, or share in other ways about series or genres of books that I like.
Investigate and Think Critically:Students research, manage and evaluate information and solve problems using digital tools and resources.
· I can compare search engines, use effective search terms and advanced search strategies to find information.
· I use an effective research process (e.g. Big6),including citing sources to support ideas.
· I can evaluate sources for relevance, authority, bias, etc.
Collaborate:Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others
· I can share ideas that help others learn or contribute work to a group project.
Innovate:Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge and develop innovative products and processes
· I create projects using thinking, writing, design, and/or technology skills.
Practice Digital Citizenship:Students demonstrate a clear understanding of technology systems and operations and practice safe, legal and ethical behavior.

Grade 5
Fifth grade students will also receive instruction in social studies as set by Washington State. The standards for fifth grade are:
History Geography Civics
·Understand the organization and function of the US government, including key fundamental documents.
Economics
·Understands how trade and the British government impacted the economy of the thirteen colonies.
· Understand how significant historical events and individuals in the U.S. influence past, current and future decisions.
· Understand and analyze the physical and cultural characteristics of the thirteen colonies and how settlement impacted the indigenous people and land.
· Understand there are multiple perspectives regarding historical events.
