SCHOLARSHIPS FOR JANUARY
HUNT LEADERSHIP SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Demonstrated Extraordinary Leadership:
This is normally reflected through serving in top leadership positions of high school organizations. This requirement may also be reflected through significant leadership accomplishments in areas outside the high school setting. Examples of such leadership may include: Senior or Junior class president or Student Council president, Editor-in-Chief of school newspaper, founders of organizations, senior leadership in scouting or service groups, Boys State or Girls State representative, or other significant leadership roles.
Submission of the Hunt Essay and YouTube statement (see below), and a completed first-year application for admission to SMU must be done through the SMU Application Portal.
Rank in top 25% of graduating class.*
Composite SAT 1330 or ACT 29 (Note: SMU has adopted a test-optional policy. Applicants to SMU will not have to submit standardized test scores.)
Completion of a strong college preparatory curriculum, typically including AP courses, IB courses, and honors classes.
FFA LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP
Due: Jan 5th
This scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students who are FFA members. Applicants may be pursuing any academic major. Award is $1000. Deadline is January 9th.

Plan to attend an accredited, not-for-profit university in the State of Texas
Have met minimum score requirement for either SAT or ACT
Caring for America of Henderson County, Texas

Be entering into a field of study in the area of law enforcement, fire services, or medical support
2025 High School graduate
Be a resident of Henderson County
Be a legal resident of the United States of America with proof of birth certificate, passport, or Naturalization papers
Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or greater
Be attending a college, university, or technical school in the 2025-2026 school year.
Applications, essay, letters of recommendation and supporting documents must be postmarked by January 30th.

For the seventh consecutive year, H-E-B will award 15 high school seniors who participate in UIL competitions with a $2,000 scholarship in recognition of their community service and involvement in their communities.
Five students who compete in athletics (including cheer), five students who compete in music, and five more students who compete in academic events will be selected from the pool of applicants from across the state.
H-E-B will award each selected student with a $2,000 scholarship toward their college/university of choice. Recipients will be spotlighted during the 2025 UIL Texas Girls & Boys Basketball State Championships.
Requirements: You must be a current Texas high school senior graduating in 2025 with a minimum 3.3 GPA, have participated in a UIL competition as a high school student and have been active in community service programs or events.
Applicants must complete the online application form and submit all support documents at the same time. Applications for the 2024-25 school year are now OPEN. Here's what you will need to apply for 2024-25 consideration.

Texas Engineering Foundation

Award Amount: approximately $75,000
Selection Guidelines:
Senior with 3.0+ GPA entering college in the fall immediately after graduation
US citizen
Scored SAT 620+ in math, 580+ in critical reading and 500+ in writing or ACT 29+ in math and 25+ in English
