Policy:
As discussed and agreed during the Dean's Council meeting earlier, please find attached the draft calendars for 2025-26, 2026-27 and 2027-28. The objectives of the calendar change are as follows:
1. To ensure a regular start date for the school year (first Monday of September). This will set the AGSB schoolyear from September to August.
2. To finish the first trimester before the Christmas Break.
3. To remove the Holy Week in the declared number of weeks.
The specifics of the proposed calendars are as follows:
SY 2025-26
1. Classes will start on September 29.
2. The first trimester will end 2 weeks after the Christmas Break.
3. Classes will end on September 5, 2026.
4. There will only be a one-week break after Term 3 and Term 4. All other terms and trimesters will have 2 weeks between them.
SY 2026-27
1. Classes will start on September 14. There will be a one-week break between the end of the previous SY and the start of the new one. This was done in order to end the first trimester by December 14.
2. There is a one-week break after Regis Term 1 and 3. This is necessary so Term 5 can end on August 21, 2027.
By SY 2027-28, all the objectives would be met. There will be 2-week breaks between terms and trimesters. The schoolyear will always start first Monday of September, and the first trimester will always end before the Christmas Break.
