The United Nations dedicates a day every year for the observance of the World Water day, held every 22nd of March. This observance would want to emphasize the importance of water not just for humans, but for every organisms and ecosystems here on Earth.
The theme for this year's World Water Day celebration is "Water for Peace", highlighting the importance of water in uniting all of us for peace.
Water is needed for paper production. Trees are cut down to make them. Water is needed to grow trees, make pulp from the tree trunks, bleach paper.
As the demand for paper increases, the rate of deforestation increases as well to support the demand for paper. This leads to paper production companies looking for forested area to collect trees. But this could initiate environmentalist and environmental activist to act against these industries to protect the forest areas. Struggle for claiming land rights by paper companies can become a conflict if there are settled communities near the area.
With this, I want you to think of every paper you use, and how much water you consume for every paper that you use. What could you do to conserve water, in relation to your usage of paper?
