Mr. Irvin Carl T. Sadia | Grade 7
A true blue Atenean, Mr. Sadia has very fond memories of his time as a student of the Ateneo Junior High School. This includes donning the iconic blue and white jersey when he played Basketball for the AJHS!
A graduate of BS Management from the Loyola Schools, Mr. Sadia’s message to students is simple yet profound: "Just enjoy life, prioritizing God." His words encourage young people to find joy in life while keeping their faith and values at the forefront."
Dr. Jose Gabriel C. Bautista | Grades 7 & 8
The best of both worlds, Dr. Gab Bautista blends his love for Science with his passion for the performing arts. A Doctor of Medicine from St. Luke's College of Medicine - William H. Quasha Memorial, Dr. Bautista joins us at the AJHS to teach and inspire a new generation of scientists and future physicians. His love for voice over, theater arts, and acting will definitely be an asset this coming school year!
With the new school year coming soon, Dr. Bautista wants to share this message for his future students: “Welcome back to school! I hope you enjoyed your summer vacation. I am excited for each one of you who will learn, pray, and grow further in school. Wear your smiles everyday and get ready to meet new teachers and friends who will accompany you in your journey of learning and experiencing. Remember that you are not alone, and that you are loved, and will continue to be loved.”
Mr. Oliver Ezekiel M. De Jesus | Grades 7 & 8
We are excited to welcome Mr. Oliver De Jesus to the school! With a Master’s in Environmental Science, Mr. De Jesus brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for the environment to his teaching. His enthusiasm for exploring the natural world will undoubtedly inspire his students to engage deeply with environmental issues and sustainability.
Outside the classroom, Mr. De Jesus is an avid gamer, singer, and calligraphy enthusiast, bringing a creative and multifaceted approach to his teaching style. His diverse interests make him relatable and approachable, adding a unique touch to the learning experience he offers.
Mr. De Jesus' message to his students is one of excitement and encouragement: “I am excited to meet all of you! Together, we will explore new ideas, learn from each other, and grow together. Let's embark on this journey and achieve excellence!”
Mr. Xavier Jose C. Fernando | Grades 7 & 9
A true blue Atenean, Mr. Fernando earned his AB in Interdisciplinary Studies, with specialized tracks in Education and Computer Science. His interdisciplinary background equips him with a versatile approach to teaching, blending technology, and education in innovative ways!
A fun fact about Mr. Fernando is that he has performed in several collegiate musical theater productions. This creative side adds an extra layer of dynamism to his teaching style, making learning both engaging and enjoyable for his students.
Mr. Fernando’s message for his students is simple yet profound: "Stand on the shoulders of giants." He encourages students to build on the wisdom and achievements of those who came before them, using this foundation to reach new heights in their own academic and personal journeys.
Ms. Enthel T. Silvio | Grade 8
Ms. Silvio is a passionate educator with a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in Science. Her deep love for nature is evident not only in her academic background but also in her active involvement in EARTH-UST, an environmental organization at her university. In addition to her dedication to the environment, Ms. Silvio has a variety of interests that include music, photography, and savoring coffee and matcha. Her diverse passions bring a unique and creative approach to her teaching style.
When asked what she would like her future students to know, Ms. Silvio says “I’m excited to create memorable and fun learning experiences with all of you. It’s not going to be easy but we’ll take it one step at a time. See you soon!”
Mr. John Daniel C. Lorio | Grades 8 & 9
With every role, Mr. Lorio breathes new life into the characters they portray. This year, Mr. Lorio plays a new role as a member of the AJHS Science Team! Aside from mentoring students in science classes and organizations and fostering their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), he has a strong passion for theater arts! He is a jack-of-all-trades in the theater world, with experience as an artistic director, an acting workshop facilitator, a stage manager, and a singer and actor, just to name a few! In fact, you might even catch him at prestigious events like the Philippine Stagers Foundation Annual Theater Festival and Pasinaya at the Cultural Center of the Philippines!
Mr. Lorio has a short message for his upcoming students: “Embrace every learning opportunity with curiosity and dedication. Science is not just a subject but a way to understand the world around us. Let’s explore it together with enthusiasm and an open mind!"
Mr. Ken Scymon L. Montalba | Grade 9
Mr. Ken Scymon L. Montalba rejoins our team with a strong foundation in both science and education. Ken holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from UST and is currently pursuing his MA in Education, majoring in Basic Education Teaching, at the ADMU. His commitment to continuous learning makes him a dynamic addition to our teaching community.
Besides teaching science, Mr. Montalba speaks a number of foreign languages and likes to write poetry, thus enriching his multifaceted personality.
Mr. Montalba brings much more to the table than simple academic expertise. His particular gift is in demystifying complex scientific concepts, making them both understandable and interesting. For example, he has this to say to his students: “Do you know that the LCD in which your screen is made up is short for Liquid Crystal Display? Also, indium tin oxide and silicon oxide are some of the things you can find in your LCDs. Not that tech-savvy? Well just consider this, the molecule in your eye called 11-cis-retinal starts a series of biochemical reactions which allow you to undergo the process of vision. You're interested now, right? I'm looking forward to working with you as we unravel the mysteries and works of the world by looking at its smallest piece - the atom.”
Mr. Adrian Gerard C. Lopez | Grade 9 & 10
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry for Teachers, Mr. Lopez joins the Ateneo community and he is eager to share his knowledge and passion for chemistry and physics with all of his students.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry for Teachers, but there is so much more to him outside of being a teacher. He is an active member of his parish choir, serving God with his musical talents. When he is not singing or teaching, he loves to relax and catch up with his favorite video games, giving him a unique perspective that he will surely bring into a classroom.
Mr. Lopez is also on a journey of personal discernment as he considers the possibility of religious life in the future. His attitude toward life—thoughtful—is what he takes with him into the classroom as he works to inspire his students in their academic and personal lives.
Mr. Lopez’ message for his students is simple: “Let us embark on this new adventure together. I look forward to meeting you all. May we all have a meaningful school year.”
Engr. Radigan D. Ap-apid | Grade 10
The Ateneo community happily welcomes Engr. Radigan Ap-apid to its roster of faculty members! He is a mechanical engineer, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. But there is so much more to Eng. Ap-apid, beyond his degree. Not many people know this, but he has been practicing Filipino Martial Arts on and off since 2014!
As a new member of the AJHS community, he has this to say to his new students: “I'm not sure what message to give to an abstract mass of future students. I try not to write to folks I do not know yet, and that's a whole lot of different people- different spirits, different minds- who might not need a generic message, nor appreciate any vague words I might have to offer at this juncture. (You know your own minds, future students, I won't be preemptively prescriptive about what you ought to think or expect.) It will only be after I meet these people that I will have something meaningful to say.”
Mr. Chazz Wilson A. Garcia III | Grade 10
Mr. Garcia graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education in Mathematics and is now excited to be teaching Physics to a brand new set of students. During his spare time, he loves playing video games and reading postmodern Japanese literature, mainly books by Murakami. When not in the classroom, you can also find Mr. Garcia on the football pitch, as he is a football fan (both watching and playing).
When asked about his message to his future students, he had this to say: “To my future students: May your learning adventure be filled with memories and moments you can treasure for life. Do not limit your growth within the classroom, shackled by textbooks and assessments. There is so much more to life than tunneling with what's in front of you. Enjoy the now so that you can press on to the future with minimal regrets. Finally, I hope I can inspire most of you, the way I was inspired by my Physics teacher back when I was in high school.”
"To the world you may be just a teacher but to your students you are a HERO."
WELCOME NEW ATENEAN TEACHERS!
