After a careful deliberation process, the AJHS Science Subject Area proudly names its Subject Area Awardee for the completing batch of SY 2020-2021:
Mr. Francis T. Villegas
L10-Garnier & La Storta Advanced Science Class (L10-S3)
The Subject Area Award is given to a student who obtained the highest average final mark in a particular subject during his four-year stay in the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School. (AJHS Student Handbook, 2018) The Science Subject Area, specifically, confers the award to a student who embodies the profile of an ideal AJHS science graduate, namely:
Christ-centered young man of competence, conscience, compassion, and commitment
critical and collaborative problem solvers
responsible stewards of environment
innovative
creative and reflective thinker
informed decision maker
effective communicator
committed nation builder
Francis, who was also given a Magis Award during the closing ceremony, was described as follows:
"Doing more and being more. This is what Francis has consistently shown in his years in the Junior High School. He is one of our many students who have truly embodied all the values that the school upholds, but what makes him even more remarkable is his humility and his character.
His intelligence and competence are certainly unmistakeable, as seen in his academic achievements, and his creativity also shines through. His talent, vision, and attention to detail were certainly put to great use through the many projects that he has helped plan and implement.
Francis, in all his achievements and contributions to the school, is and will always be an inspiration to his fellow leaders and students, and even to his teachers. Ultimately, his character and his kindness are what make him precious to everyone’s eyes."
We are proud of Francis' accomplishments during his stay in the AJHS, and we are certain that he will remain a humble, yet effective inspiration to others as he moves on to the next phase of his academic life.
AMDG, Francis!
