30 April 2021 | Grades 9 & 10
The AJHS Science Subject Area proudly congratulates the two groups which emerged as the Pope Francis Awardees in the 2021 AJHS Science Research Project Fair. They were recently featured on the Educate Magis website for their Earth Day celebration!
For Earth Day 2021, Educate Magis invited teachers from our global community to give their students the opportunity to present their environmental actions and experiences, and reflect on them together with students from other Jesuit schools, through a global Connected Classroom. (EducateMagis, 2021) Educate Magis is the global online community of Jesuit and Ignatian educators from around the world. Transcending boundaries and borders, it is a community which opens a new way of proceeding for member schools in service of the Jesuit mission: companions of reconciliation and justice – with God, within humanity and with creation (GC 36 Decree #1)
Representing Grade 9 are RP Exhibit winners Joaquin Antonio O. Delos Santos IV (M9-Lalemant), Dan Narciso B. Reyes IV (M9-Kisai), Adrian Kendrick P. Rivera (M9-Kisai), and Gabriel Joseph D. Rosanes (M9-Kisai) of the Montserrat Advanced Science class. Their research project is entitled, “A Study on the Effectiveness of Banana Fibers (Musa acuminata) and Coconut Fibers (Cocos nucifera) as Insulating Materials Used as Additional Roofing of a House". Mrs. Jan Machelle Z. Dela Cruz served as their research adviser.
Meanwhile, Grade 10 was represented by RP Congress winners Augusto Victor T. Abola, Joaquin Miguel C. Ang It, Ryan Matthew L. Balicusto and Ross Adrian S. Bartolome, all from the class of C10-Berthieu. Their research project is entitled, “CovHeat-19: A Homemade Thermal Laptop Stand Composed of Starch-Based Bioplastic". Mr. Alfredo Joaquin C. Arias served as their research adviser.
We hope their exemplary application of scientific and research skills would serve as an inspiration for the potential of our students to make an impact in caring for our common home with the global community.
