Chair

Through research and real-life classroom observations, we noticed that backpacks and other personal items tend to get in the way of STEM students during project-based classes where transitions between standing, sitting, and moving around the room are common. 

To address this issue, we have developed the Nomad Chair, a bar-height chair with optimal, intuitive backpack storage. We took into account specific STEM user needs such as backpack storage, backpack accessibility, and compatibility with any bag type, especially ones on the larger side, as well as typical needs like comfort, mobility, and stability. 

Currently, Steelcase has several options that offer backpack storage. What makes the Nomad Chair different is that not only is our storage more intuitive for the user, but it comes as a bar height chair, the most common table and chair height for project-based classes, something not currently offered by Steelcase.
