HIGHER MATHEMATICS FOR ENGINEERS/ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGISTS
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course deals with algebraic expressions and equations; solution sets of algebraic equations in one variable; trigonometric functions, identities and equations; solutions of triangles; equations of lines and conic sections; formulas for areas of plane figures; volumes and surface areas of solids; solution sets of systems of linear equations involving up to three variables; and arithmetic and geometric series.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO)
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:CLO1. Simplify algebraic expressions;CLO2. Determine the solution sets of all types of algebraic equations;CLO3. Simplify trigonometric functions and equations;CLO4. Solve problems involving triangles;CLO5. Analyze and graph equations lines and conics sections;CLO6. Compute for the area of plane figures;CLO7. Compute for the surface areas and volumes of different types of solids;CLO8. Solve systems of linear equations; andCLO9. Determine the indicated sum of the elements in an arithmetic and geometric sequence.
