This module taught us more about the civil engineering profession through the Code of Ethics for Civil Engineers in the Philippines, the Republic Act No. 544, and the Presidential Decree No. 1594. It has also classified the different specializations of civil engineering namely Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Environment and Energy Engineering. The following information showcases all the things I had encountered, studied, and reflected for this particular module.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
This field of civil engineering is concerned with structural analysis and structural design. It is the structural engineer's job to evaluate and build a structure that can safely withstand or resist the stresses, pressures, and loads. The design must meet all safety standards while satisfying the project parameters. Massive loads, as well as natural calamities and climate change, must be tolerated by the structure.

Structural engineering relies on a thorough understanding of applied mechanics, materials science, and applied mathematics to understand and anticipate how structures sustain and resist self-weight and imposed loads. To effectively apply the knowledge, a structural engineer typically requires comprehensive knowledge of relevant empirical and theoretical design codes, structural analysis techniques, and some expertise of the corrosion resistance of the materials and structures, especially when those constructions are exposed to the external environment.
CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT
Construction Engineering and Management turns the written design into a physical reality and involves management of all tasks related to construction engineering. It deals with planning, construction and maintenance of structures. Construction engineering has quantifiable parameters such as time, cost, and quality. The Construction Engineer ensures that the design and requirements are followed on the job site.

The job of a construction engineer is to confirm the availability of materials, equipment, and labor, as well as to identify any constraints and hazards, scope and trend, economic, and safety aspects of a project. He plans the cost and length of a project and oversees its implementation from start to finish. Construction engineers must also be skilled to plan and manage resources over the course of a project. This duty entails the logistics of arranging people, equipment, and supplies during the course of a project, which can range from a highway to a high-rise structure.
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING
The engineer analyzes soil, foundations, and bearing capabilities in geotechnical engineering. The engineer will investigate the behavior of earth materials and how they will impact the construction of a project. They will also assess pre-existing constructions that exhibit symptoms of issues with the soil materials beneath or near the building.

Geotechnical engineering, from a scientific standpoint, is primarily concerned with characterizing the soil's strength and deformation characteristics. It is also the job of geotechnical engineer to detect the vulnerabilities. A geotechnical engineer evaluates the feasibility of a project after considering all of the factors needed. Clay, silt, sand, rock, and snow are all essential materials in geotechnics. Soil and rock mechanics, geophysics, hydrogeology, and related disciplines such as geology are all part of geotechnical engineering.
WATER RESOURCES ENGINEERING
The study of fluid mechanics, hydraulics, and water resource management is known as water resources engineering. Water Resource Engineers research the natural cycle of water and devise effective ways of utilizing it. They look at all of the natural water reservoirs and strategies to protect them. They develop water supply infrastructures for communities. They are also responsible for the design of irrigation water delivery systems.

Understanding fundamental water processes is a crucial skill for a water resources engineer to have so that a clean supply of water are being utilized for drinking and living. Water resource engineers are responsible not just for drinking water supplies, but also for the protection of water bodies, land, and groundwater. Water resource engineering responsibilities include the design of culverts and dams, as well as erosion control works along river banks.
TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING
Transportation engineering is concerned with the planning and design of infrastructure that will aid in the safe, efficient, and quality transportation of people and goods from one location to another. Civil engineers that specialize in transportation engineering will work on transportation facility development, construction, and administration. They will develop and execute transportation infrastructures in order to provide a safe, comfortable, convenient, economical, and ecologically friendly method of transportation.

Civil engineers that specialize in transportation engineering will work on transportation facility development, construction, and administration. The design of transportation systems such as motorways, roads, and public transit networks falls within the scope of transportation engineering. A transportation engineer's responsibilities also include the operation and maintenance of various transportation networks, as well as a grasp of traffic control systems. Transportation engineers also design roads, airports, railways, and transit networks. They work for government agencies, consulting businesses that troubleshoot for the government, and private organizations that manufacture transportation materials and equipment.

Environment and energy engineering is a field of civil engineering that aims to use energy effectively while also protecting the environment. Energy engineers must be knowledgeable in a variety of fields. Work in the built environment, renewable and traditional energy businesses are all options. Environment engineering is concerned with building approaches that are energy efficient, ecologically friendly, sustainable, and green. It seeks to offer safe drinking water, a clean environment, water and waste recycling, and sustainable energy generation.

You will learn to work with energy and cleaning technology challenges from a comprehensive standpoint in environment and energy engineering. In all sectors, such as building heating and ventilation, process management in industry, or water and sewage treatment, you will engage with ideas such as function, energy efficiency, economy, and environmental influence. Given the rising cost of energy, there is a continual need to enhance all of these elements. The energy and environmental engineer's job is clear and critical.
Amongst the six branches of civil engineering, I got interested on the structural field that brought me to an interview with a licensed structural engineer. Thereby, above is a video presentation of the conducted online interview.

In this module, I was enlightened with the different specializations or branches of civil engineering. Structural engineering deals with the structural analysis and structural design of infrastructures. Construction engineering and management is concerned with the planning and materializing the paper framework of the proposed infrastructure design. Geotechnical engineering focuses on the soil, foundation, and bearing capabilities of the supposedly construction site. Water resources engineering concentrates on the management of water supplies to provide adequate water for the community. Transportation engineering pertains to developing and building transportation infrastructures. Environment and energy engineering associates to utilizing energy effectively while protecting the environment. Amongst these specializations, I was more interested in structural engineering that is why we had interviewed a licensed structural engineer to ask more about the profession. Furthermore, this module undoubtedly presented the code of ethics of civil engineers, RA 544 and Presidential Decree 1594. Through these documents, I was able to comprehend the policies, guidelines, principles, do's and don'ts and other necessary information about the profession of civil engineering.
