IF APPLICABLE: YOU CANNOT ENTER SPAIN WITHOUT YOUR VISA IN YOUR PASSPORT
ASM requires you to book your flights only after you have physically received your visa. Even if your visa is approved, the final issuance date can vary. We understand this may result in last-minute bookings, but you must wait for your visa before making travel reservations.
If your contract includes a flight, contact EnterTravel at info@entertravel.es once your visa is in your passport. Please provide:
Your full name, date of birth, passport number, and a copy of your passport
Travel details (departure date and location)
Information on any travel companions (including pets, if applicable)
If ASM covers your flight, extra costs (upgrades, extra baggage, pets, etc.) are not included. You must pay the travel agency directly for any additional expenses.
Support with ASM New Hire Sponsor,__________, begins in August
With online home finding, you should arrive in Madrid no later than August 10
With an in-person home finding home search, you should arrive no later than August 2
We do not recommend arriving before August due to visa timing and possible legal issues. If you are planning to come before August, please ask Veronica first to see if it's possible or not
In case of an emergency, Annie or Jimena will always be available by email but might have limited access to it (summer holiday period)
Please bear in mind that August 15 is a public holiday in Madrid and all logistical and bureaucratic processes will be limited during this day and transportation and travel will be busier than usual.
Spanish law mandates a background check that includes sexual offenses for anyone working in a school. This check must be obtained from your country of birth, regardless of your nationality, where you have lived, or where you are coming from.
For U.S. citizens, this background check is processed by the FBI and is the same one required for a visa application. You will need to request an additional copy for your ASM file.
Each country has its own process and requirements for obtaining this background check. We recommend contacting your country’s National Police or Embassy for specific instructions. In some cases, this certificate is the same as the one needed for a visa (request two copies), while in others, a separate process and certificate may be required.
In the case of US citizens, the certificate is issued by the FBI via their website. To obtain it, American employees must fill a request with his/her fingerprint recorded on a specific form and send it to the FBI. The cost for processing the application is 18$ for each certificate and can be paid by credit card.
Spanish citizens can apply online for a certificate through the Spanish Ministry of Justice in this link. Certificates can be downloaded free of charge.
