This course gives students a broad overview of leadership and the agriculture industry. Topics of study include:
agricultural awareness and literacy,
employability skills,
the plant science industry including horticulture and agronomy,
the animal science industry including food animals and companion animals,
natural resources such as soil, water, forests, and wildlife, and
agricultural mechanics.
English language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science are reinforced. Students will complete a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) and have opportunities to participate in competitive events, community service, and leadership activities through the local FFA Chapter.

Natural Resources I (Standard or Honors)

This course provides an introduction to the natural resources industry. Topics of study include:
leadership and employability skills,
sustainable use of natural resources,
air, water, and soil quality,
fish, fisheries, and wildlife, and
forestry.
English language arts, mathematics, and science are reinforced. Students will complete a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) and have opportunities to participate in competitive events, community service, and leadership activities through the local FFA Chapter.

In this course, students take a more in depth look into monitoring and managing natural resources. Students learn to apply best management practices in:

Forest management,
Soil and water Quality,

Aquaculture, and
Recreation including hunting, fishing, and camping.

In this course, students apply the scientific knowledge and skills learned in Horticulture I to learn to produce and manage horticultural plants, products, and services. Topics of study include:

nursery plant production and management,
basic landscape design, installation and maintenance,
lawn and turf grass management, and
basic floral design.
