My name is Melissa Pratt and this is my fourth year at ASFG, but my sixth year living in Guadalajara. I was born and raised in Alberta, Canada and received my Bachelor of Arts in General Social Sciences (History, Political Science, Sociology) and my Bachelor of Education in Social Studies Education from the University of Lethbridge. I then taught in Guadalajara for two years and then in Cairo, Egypt, and back to Canada before returning to Guadalajara.
In my free time, I love to travel, hang out with dogs, listen to Taylor Swift, and relax by a pool or beach. Some of my most memorable travelling experiences were solo traveling in Colombia, a safari in Kenya, exploring the different cities and pueblo's in Mexico, and strolling around Venice, Italy. I have been working on learning Spanish, so I appreciate your patience as it is currently limited!
I am passionate about learning about new cultures, and believe that every student brings something unique and special to our classroom community. Our differences should be celebrated! I want to create a fun and safe space for students to learn and grow- mistakes are embraced in my classroom as they help us learn! I want to inspire students to become lifelong learners. I can't wait for an exciting year!
