This is our second year using Illustrative Math. This curriculum helps students to communicate and justify their mathematical reasoning. It focuses not on just getting the right answer, but also being able to show (models, diagrams, representations) and communicate (using appropriate vocabulary) their thinking.
We learn math through:
Problem Solving
Collaboration
Modeling
Games
Communication
Hands on activities with manipulatives and real world examples
Khan Academy
