The Renganathan Group at ASDRP is dedicated to addressing a broad spectrum of biomedical challenges, including diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's. Our approach is grounded in medicinal biochemistry, where we develop innovative strategies to enhance the delivery and administration of chemical entities for clinical application. We employ a combination of computational (in silico) and laboratory-based (in vitro and in vivo) methods to explore these issues.
Our primary areas of focus include:
- Developing advanced drug delivery systems, with a significant emphasis on nanomedicine.
- Chemically modifying drugs to improve their efficacy.
- Elucidating mechanisms of action for both drugs and their delivery systems using techniques such as NMR, assays, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
- Utilizing in silico modeling and prediction of drug activity through docking, molecular dynamics, and QSAR.
- Conducting pharmacokinetic studies and assessing the bioavailability of anticancer drugs.
In essence, we specialize in enhancing the potency of drugs by developing solutions to address any missing characteristics they may have.
