Adverse Weather Arrangements for 2025-26
As you will be aware over the past two years we have been working on curriculum developments in the BGE that is supported through our partnership with the Wood Foundation Excelerate programme.
In S1 young people engage with the Explorers programme followed by the Adventurers experience in S2 where young people also engage with the Youth Philanthropy initiative. In 2024-25 the final stage of this project based learning experience is being embedded in S3 through the Voyagers programme that focuses on the work of work and real life experiences to prepare our young people as they move towards the Senior Phase of the school.

In terms of applying for university in the UK that goes through a body called UCAS and you can access their website which is a brilliant resource for young people and parents alike.
Beyond that, at Mackie Academy, we have our Senior Phase Pathways Information (S4-S6) that contains everything you should need to know about courses, their structures and how they are assessed here at Mackie Academy.
In addition to this students and parents can access support from Skills Development Scotland around advice for future pathways and students can have an individual appointment with our advisors in school alongside support that they will access through their Personal and Social Education lessons.
Our partnership with Skills Development Scotland (SDS) includes multiple activities throughout the school year to support young people at all stages in relation to career pathways. SDS also offer support to parents at various stages in the school year including appointments at parents' evenings and access to staff at wider events.
