Pupils shared their existing knowledge of different music and film terms to describe what is heard and seen in film. Pupils then built on this by analysing various films and carrying our group tasks to retain the new knowledge that had been learned.
Pupils built on their knowledge and creative skills when 3:16 Events carried out a workshop showing how to record foley sound effects to a scene from 'The Incredibles'. Pupils used the opportunity to enhance their problem solving skills by coming up with different ideas of objects to use to record different sounds. Their team building skills were also improvised in this task as they worked very well with each other under a time limit.
Pupils analysed music and film aspects in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and presented their opinions in the form of a podcast interview which was recorded on GarageBand. This developed various skills such as teamwork, communication, writing and digital skills.
Pupils used their creative skills learned in the foley workshop to record sound effects for a film scene of their choice.
They used various random objects and manipulated the sound by changing the pitch, volume or adding reverb,
Pupils spent time learning about the film 'The Woman in Black' They then developed several skills and their new knowledge and experience of the film to create a pitch which was shared with Headteacher, Mrs Paul. In their pitch, pupils proposed a reward for the S2 class with the most merits across the school. In groups, pupils also worked with each other to create a story board for their own horror clip which enabled them to develop various skills using the new knowledge that have gained in this field.
