In this IDL, pupils explored crisis response in relation to their designated ‘apocalypse’, whether it be zombies, post-nuclear fallout, extreme global warming or the very topical pandemic scenario. Through the creation of a breaking news video, an official government response video and leaflets for the general public, they discovered what it takes to get the population informed and prepared for survival. After getting into small groups, they got to develop their leadership and creative skills, as well as challenging themselves to broaden their researching skills. Our pupils learned a lot from Andrea Brymer, STV and Suzanne Mackie, The Wood Foundation. Their input enhanced their experiences and opened their eyes to possible future career opportunities. This also helped pupils to develop their communication skills.
