In this IDL pupils researched the wildlife and land uses of the Bennachie area. We then analysed films and learned about different aspects of film making before making our own animations to promote and protect Bennachie.
This IDL experience exposed pupils to a range of film genres which had a focus on the environment and were aimed at a variety of Target Audiences. Students developed skills in writing detailed, balanced film reviews. To enhance there awareness of the Bennachie area, pupils completed Primary and Secondary research activities which included interviewing the Bennachie Ranger to produce a mood board to show an understanding and appreciation for the Bennachie area.
Students created a group identity by setting up a Film Studio and branding for their group. Students took on specific group roles to enable them to be active participants within the group and provide leadership opportunities. They then created, produced and directed a film that answered their driving question: 'How can we, as filmmakers, promote and protect Bennachie?'.
