At Arundel Christian School, we recognize that regular attendance lays the foundation for consistency, routine, and growth in a young child’s early learning experience. While preschool attendance is not mandated by law, consistent participation is essential to helping your child thrive socially, emotionally, spiritually, and academically.
The Importance of Being Present
Preschoolers grow best when they are part of a stable, predictable routine. Arriving late or missing frequent days can make it more difficult for young children to adjust and connect with their peers and teachers.
We ask that parents partner with us in building strong habits of faithfulness and commitment by:
Bringing your child to school on time each day
Communicating with your child’s teacher about any upcoming absences
Helping your child adjust after time away with patience and support
Arrival Time
Preschool begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.. Please ensure your child arrives on time so they can transition into the day calmly and confidently alongside their classmates. Late arrivals can feel overwhelming for young children, especially if they enter during an activity or lesson already in progress.
If you are running late or your child will be absent, please notify the school office.
Absences
We understand that illness, family needs, and emergencies may occasionally prevent your child from attending school. Please keep your child home if they are sick or showing signs of illness. Contact your child’s teacher or the front office to report absences.
When your child returns to school, teachers will provide any missed work as appropriate. Some activities may be sent home as part of homework or enrichment to reinforce concepts that were introduced during the absence.
Tardiness
To maintain a smooth classroom environment, we ask that all preschoolers be in their classrooms by 8:30 a.m. Arriving late can disrupt the morning routine and make it harder for your child to settle into the day. Please make every effort to arrive on time.
We believe that cultivating good attendance habits in preschool sets the stage for a lifetime of discipline, responsibility, and spiritual growth. Thank you for partnering with us to provide your child with a Christ-centered, consistent, and joyful learning experience.
School begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. The doors will open each morning at 8:10 am, and all students must enter the building as detailed in the Parking Lot Policy.
Any student arriving after 8:30 a.m. must enter through the front office in order to be admitted to class.
All visitors must enter through the front office and will receive a Visitor’s Badge. Any parent or guardian or designated person wishing to pick a student up early must come to the front office to do so and must sign that student out for the day. No student will be released to any person other than the parents, guardians, or those persons listed on the Student Information Sheet without previous notification to the office. The office will ask for photo identification from adults picking up ACS students.
All students must be picked up from school at the end of the school day. Students are not permitted to remain after school unless they are enrolled in an after-school program or PM Club. Students who have not been picked up in the dismissal line will wait with a parking lot attendant and the parents will be charged a late fee of $3.00 each minute after 4pm.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THE FRONT DOORS ARE LOCKED DAILY FROM 3:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.
The front office reception area is reserved for guests of our school. It is not to be used as a congregating area for students and/or parents. When needing to speak with our front office staff, please keep that area quiet so that our staff can effectively field the phone calls they receive or answer the questions of parents and guests of the school.
Anyone entering the building will need to be admitted by a staff member. Parents and guests of ACS will not be permitted to move throughout the school unless escorted by an ACS staff member.
