Review: Industry-Based Certifications Examples follow:

Do you find an industry-based certification or degree you are interested in pursuing? If yes, note that in your slides. CHECK YOUR SLIDES daily for COMMENTS from your Instructor, Dr. Rousseau. You must address each comment to get full credit.

Assignment MODULE 1 :

(1) When you have completed Module_1, please email joy@arpisd.org and send the shared link to your slides.

(2) This Module should take you about 2 weeks to complete. Pace yourself.

(3) Make sure you address at least these following questions. Copy and paste them into your slides and answer as you learn more about yourself

  • Do I need a Certification/Certificate/Credential or a Degree for my career interest?

  • What Hands-on Skills do you already have?

  • What are your talents, technical skills, and personal character strengths?

  • What are your interests and personality traits?

(4) Based upon your personality tests and career interests answer these questions.


What do I value most?

Do I like to work by myself (in a cubical) or on a team (with a group)

Do I like to supervise or be supervised?

Do I like to work in a large city or in a smaller community?

Do I like to research or do hands-on tasks? Do I like to work outside or inside?

Do I like to problem-solve or have problems solved for me?

Do I need to make a lot of $$ or do I need to feel like work is my passion?

Do I like teaching others or prefer to be shown what to do?

Do I like to help people or prefer to be helped by others?

Can I sit in a chair all day or do I need to be moving about?

Do I like to build technical skills or prefer to build people skills?

Am I patient in most cases or am I anxious about the future often?

Would I like to have a great amount of responsibility or work under someone who does?

Do I like to make final decisions or implement plans made by others?


(5) Next, begin your Research and provide URLs for each answer

  • Educational Requirements (courses, degrees, continuing education, certifications) Look at colleges you plan to attend OR find a college that offers what you need for your chosen career.

  • Example: TJC Degrees & Certificate Pathways. Take the Free Career Assessment,

  • Check out Information Technology at TJC or your preferred college.
