What is the impact on the reader of Harrigan's first paragraph? What tone does it set for the essay?
What details does the author give that are most important in the defining the nature of the tiger? Pick out three or four specific paragraphs that are most important.
Why do you think that Harrigan go into minute detail about the physical arrangements of the zoo and the schedules? Why would readers want to know these details?
Notice the title. Is this an essay about Tigers? or is a essay about God? Explain your reasoning.
Read into the metaphor of the title.
What are the qualities of God? Which source are you using? Depending on which God you believe in, or which part of the Bible used depend on the qualities being bestowed on the tiger in the comparison.
How do the qualities identified above provide deeper insight into what the title is getting at?
