Classroom management is essential to providing students with a classroom environment setup for growth, both academically and socially. An effective classroom starts with the behavioral expectations, classroom rules and procedures, and grading policies. Having a plan before students step into a classroom allows for students, and their parents, to know what is expected of them. However, this needs positive intervention support for students to create a safe and positive learning environment for all students that will walk into the classroom. Once this plan is set, keeping students engaged and differentiate teaching to students specific learning needs and styles will allow students to feel supported and ready for learning. I was able to extensively create my own classroom management plan through a course at APU, which relates to CSTP Standard 2, Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning. While creating this plan, I learned that the most important part is being flexible. Classroom management plans are necessary and beneficial, but in a classroom teachers need to be flexible and adjust to the students needs at the moment because everyday is different.
