To truly be able to understand and better teach our students, we as teachers need to understand them on a deeper level. Through this ethnography I was able to look at a school, the community it is in, classroom culture, and the students and families of the school. Through my student teaching at APU, I was able to research Sellers Elementary School in the Glendora Unified School District. This allowed me to better understand my own students and their families, and their relationship with the school and the community. Students come from diverse backgrounds and have different needs and interests, which are crucial for a teacher to learn to give students a better education and learning environment. This knowledge of my students and the community of which I teach that I gained from this ethnography connects to CSTP 1, as it will allow me to engage and support all of my students and their families in their learning experience.
