Academic Honesty

Daniel McLaughlin Therrell High School subscribe to the Atlanta Public Schools Academic Integrity Policy.  The Atlanta Board of Education recognizes that academic integrity is the foundation of academic excellence and student success. It is the responsibility of every student and employee to exhibit honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility in academic work at all times to support a positive learning environment in the school. 

Assessment Policy

D.M.Therrell High School believes that assessments are an integral part of our IB Programmes. They are not merely a tool used to record and report student performance, but instead, they are holistic and authentic and offer opportunities for the ongoing measurement of student academic progress and are used as indicators of success. 

Language Policy

Daniel McLaughlin Therrell mission statement and the IB Learner Profile establish the foundation for our language policy. We believe that language forms the basis of all learning and all teachers at D. M. Therrell High School are in essentially language teachers. Through language, students are able to explore areas of interests, become lifelong learners, and effectively communicate in a diverse, multicultural world.

Inclusion Policy

Daniel McLaughlin Therrell High School follows all federal and state guidelines in teaching students with special needs. The Atlanta Public Schools provides comprehensive services. Professionals are on staff to provide psychological services, health services, social services, education for the homeless, ELL instruction, gifted instruction, student support and services for students with special needs. Counselors are employed  to meet routine and emergency needs. Paraprofessionals are employed throughout helping physically and intellectually challenged students. A nurse is available to monitor specific medical needs. Student success is supported at every level. All students are part of the MYP. The DP and CP include students who are designated as gifted, homeless, ELL, SWD and 504.
