UNM Dual-Credit


To be eligible a student must:

1. Be a junior or senior.

2. Have the certification and unconditional recommendation of the high school as well as proof of parental consent prior to participation.

3. Download and complete the UNM Admission application.

4. Download and complete the State Request Form.

5. Submit official high school transcript through Parchment.

6. Complete the Student Information Release Form.


If you are a returning dual credit student:

1. Download and complete the Demographic Update Form (instead of the full application).

2. Submit completed State Request Form, HS Transcript, and Student Information Release Form.

Must meet one or more of the minimum requirements list below:

1. Cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale for 9th, 10th, and 11th grades in subjects counted toward graduation, OR

2. Class rank in top 25%, and a minimum grade point average of 2.25 on a 4.0 scale, OR 3. An ACT composite score of 23 or an SAT total score of 1060 and a minimum grade point average of 2.25 on a 4.0 scale. If you think you meet the eligibility requirements for UNM the first thing you must do is meet with your School Counselor or College & Career Readiness Counselor. Your Counselor will ensure you are a good fit as a dual credit student, help you select the best course for you, and go over additional forms and processes to get started. Now that you have talked with your School Counselor or College & Career Readiness Counselor, you can begin the enrollment process.

STEPS


1. Download, print and complete the UNM Admission Application a. UNM Admission Application b. Once you are admitted you will receive an email from the Dual Credit Coordinator with your assigned UNM ID #.

2. Submit the Student Information Release form a. UNM Student Information Release Form 15

3. Submit the State Request form (HS Counselor, Parent & Student signature required) a. UNM Dual Credit State Request Form

4. Submit official ACT or SAT scores or take the Accuplacer Assessment. For placement in Math or English. a. Sub-scores for Math and/or English on the ACT or SAT are used for placement in each subject. b. You can go to the UNM Test Center to take the Accuplacer. i. Located in the Continuing Education Building, Room 226, (505) 277- 5346, testctr@unm.edu ii. UNM ID # and Photo ID is required to take the Accuplacer iii. $5.00 per subject (English, Math and Reading) c. If you have questions regarding the Accuplacer contact: i. 5. Register for your classes. a. You will register for courses during a face-to-face meeting with UNM’s Dual Credit Coordinator to discuss your course options and ensure you meet all pre-requisites for a course. b. You will create an academic plan with the UNM Coordinator to ensure your course selection fits with your high school course schedule and that it helps prepare you for continuing your post-secondary studies. 6. Set-Up your myUNM account with your Net ID a. You will receive an email from UNM’s Dual Credit Coordinator with directions on setting up your account. b. Visit UNM's NetID site to get a NetID c. Once your account is set-up, visit loboweb.unm.edu to log-in. i. This is where information on your schedule, grades, and unofficial and/or request official transcript. d. Note: The Dual Credit Coordinator does not have access or the ability to print or order transcripts. e. Grades are submitted to APS District Office to be recorded onto APS HS transcripts.

7. Textbooks a. APS students pick up required textbooks from the Library Services & Instructional Materials location at 912 Oak Street SE, Building M, Room 142, Albuquerque, NM 87106 (near the CNM Main Campus). Phone (505) 848- 8897 for current hours. Students are strongly advised to call ahead to make sure books are ready for pick up. 16 b. Remember: your high school must approve your registration. Your high school will receive information about the course(s) you've registered for. If your school doesn't approve the course(s), they will be dropped from your schedule.
