My innovator plan is two-fold. In the first year of the program, I received the training and badges to integrate technology into my Spanish classrooms. Receiving level 1 and 2 Google Certifications made it possible to create the tools and lessons for students in my own classroom. In the second year of the program, I plan to help other teachers in my department and beyond integrate technology into their classrooms to help manage and create dynamic classrooms. We are a chrome book school that hopes to go one-to-one in the near future. The third step of this plan is helping staff as a whole integrate technology into their classroom. In this plan I will outline how I integrated technology into my own classroom and how I am currently working closely with colleagues to help them integrate schoolwide.
NM has recently adopted the ACTFL World Readiness Standards which focus on the following: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities.
Google Drive resources are organized and curated based on curriculum materials and units of study. Google Drive Folders are shared within the department.
Google Classrooms are organized by class and semester. Within the class, topics correspond to units of study.
Instructional outcomes are communicated to students daily by using Google Slides. The agenda is posted in Google Classroom at the top of the Classwork page so that it is easily accessible to students. Absent students reference it to find out what we did in class the day they were gone.
Used for conjugation. Good for upper level Spanish classes. Students can set different timers and practice at their own speed.
Peardeck is an interactive slideshow for students. They can take notes and I can check for understanding as we move along in the lesson.
Quizizz is a self paced live game or homework game that can be assigned through Google Classroom. We have classroom quizzes where we take the class average as the student's individual grade. In this way, the class is a team instead of individual students competing against each other.
Duolingo allows language teachers to set topic goals or xp goals for students. In my class students have a six week xp goal. They can earn extra credit and have a choice of topics to pick from.
I use Flipgrid for individual student presentations, projects and conversations. I have also collaborated with other level 2 Spanish teachers to record conversations to try and simulate real life.
Edpuzzle is used for listening activities, comprehension acitivies and note-taking activities. Videos can be programmed and graded.
