David Marshall has spent the past 25 years working on human rights and justice reform in fragile and conflict-affected states, including for the UN in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, and South Sudan. He is the Justice Advisor at the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Global Affairs Canada). He has written extensively on human rights and justice issues, including editing and contributing to “The International Rule of Law Movement - A Crisis of Legitimacy and the Way Forward” (Harvard University Press). He teaches at Columbia University on the UN and human rights. In 2020-2021, he was Visiting Professor at Yale Law School. He is a graduate of Leeds University and Harvard Law School.
