Teaching English Language Learners (TELL)
TELL is a course is designed to provide the certified staff of Albuquerque Public Schools with the theoretical foundation and practical knowledge for working with English language learners.

How APS Identifies, Assesses, and Services ELs
WIDA's ELD Standards Framework (Standards & Key Uses of Language)
Applied Classroom Strategies to Support Language Learning and Content Knowledge
Academic Discourse for the Diverse Classroom
Educator Bias & Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Instruction
Action and Reflection: The Role of the Advocate
The course must be completed by all newly hired certified staff in APS within 2 years of hiring. Staff who complete the course are paid for 48 hours at their hourly rate.
During the school year, the course is taught in a hybrid format with 12 two-hour sessions and additional asynchronous work. Courses are offered during the fall and spring semesters. Summer TELL offerings are in-person only and meet for 12 four-hour sessions.
Teachers with TESOL or bilingual endorsements are exempt from taking TELL.

TELL for Other Staff
TELL for other staff is a one day course offered 1-2 times per school year. The course is 6 hours and held in person. This course is designed for educational assistants (EAs) and clerks.
