Why us?

Because we love this school.

It really is as simple as that. We have spent countless hours establishing connections and specific, tangible goals that we truly believe will make a big difference here on campus. Our priority isn’t any huge, sweeping policies, in fact we recognize that there are dozens of things we can’t achieve, but we want to focus on the things we can

We want to focus on the things that advocate for students, like destigmatizing mental health and encouraging the counseling center to hire a more diverse staff that represents us better.

We want to focus on the things that make learning and student life more accessible, like establishing policies that allow students to know our grades in real time, not as a surprise at the end of the semester.

We want to focus on the things that energize the student body, like installing walking and standing desks in the back of the library so that when we’re busy with work, we don’t have to choose between our physical and academic needs.

We want to focus on the things that progress the ways this university cares for us, like adding mental health days to the academic calendar alongside robust mental health programming focused on encouraging everyone to take care of themselves.

We want to focus on the things that reshape our relationship with everyday tasks, like adding more pedestrian safety measures like streetlights and elevated crosswalks so nobody has to feel in danger while they walk to class.

We want to focus on the things that reinvigorate the student body, like developing positive relationships between clubs and resources that can help them, including the Student Government Association.

Throughout our time here at Appalachian, we have devoted ourselves to serving this school and this town. Our resumes are long and we’re both involved in a whole mess of clubs and organizations, but at the end of the day, it all boils down to this: we have the experience and the passion to implement substantive change on campus. There is no mountain high enough, and as long we’re in office we promise to continue climbing!
