Continuing Appalachian students sometimes attend universities or community colleges to earn additional hours towards their degrees. However, before enrolling at another school, a student must get approval from the University. The courses you plan to take at the other institution must be approved before you enroll in them to ensure that they will transfer back to Appalachian. Students cannot be simultaneously enrolled at Appalachian and at another school without prior approval. To request permission, go to the Transfer Admissions and Engagement office website. Click on “Current Students," then “Petitioning for Credit, Visiting Coursework & UNC Online,” and then “Visiting Coursework.”
You can view your transfer credits on Degree Works.

A Transfer Credit Evaluation lists the transferable courses that you took prior to attending Appalachian and indicates how the courses transfer to the Appalachian curriculum. You may have a transfer credit evaluation that does not include classes in which you are still enrolled or have just finished. If your evaluation still does not include all of your courses, then you should contact the Transfer Admissions and Engagement office at (828) 262-7877. You may need to contact the Registrar at your previous school to request that a final official transcript be sent to Appalachian. You may access the course equivalencies database at Transfer Admissions and Engagement. You can view your credit evaluation in AppalNet Self Service or on DegreeWorks. If you believe credit is missing or misapplied in your credit evaluation, you have the option to petition. Visit Transfer Admissions and Engagement and navigate to the Petition for Credit page for detailed information on this process.
