Digital Equity Survey:
In the beginning of the school year we deployed a Digital Equity Survey that is required by the State. It was sent to parents/guardians of students in the District K-12 through a survey link displayed on the District Website. We had a very low participation rate and will be pushing the survey through the Parent Portal to families to see if we can increase this percentage. Please encourage families to fill out the Digital Equity Survey if they have not done so already.
What is the purpose of this survey? To best serve students, families, and educators, it is imperative that NYSED has an accurate picture of the state of digital equity for New York students and teachers. This data will be used on an ongoing basis throughout the year to help identify specific needs and target resources and funding opportunities when they become available.
Data Requests:
As mentioned in the daily announcements, the Data Team is processing Infinite Campus issues/questions and Data Requests through Let’s Talk. This allows the Data Team to efficiently monitor requests and ensure timelines are met. While they normally have a fast turnaround time for Infinite Campus troubleshooting or data requests, we ask that you be patient as they learn systems and processes.

Did you know… Schenectady City School District transports approximately 4800 students roundtrip every day (so 9600 students) and completes 527 trips daily. In the 2021-22 school year, buses traversed approximately 1,037,515 miles!
Just a reminder… eligibility of bussing for SCSD students is as follows:
For Pre K – 5 th Grade – 1 mile or more from school
For 6th – 12th Grade – 1.5 miles or more from school
Lastly, did you know we conduct bus safety drills? Our bussing vendors perform State mandated safety drills, training students on their regular routes. We also conduct bus safety drills for students that are walkers. Walker drills ensure students’ safety on field trips or any extracurricular activity.
Registration is busier than ever!
If parents/guardians intend to provide home instruction in the 2022-23 school year, a letter of intent to provide home instruction must be submitted each school year; they do not carry over year to year.
StaffTrac - Please contact Teri Shanahan if any SCSD employee would like StaffTrac training this summer.
REMINDERS: Schenectady has quite a few grants that are sunsetting on June 30, 2022. The grant team continues to work strategically to begin planning for new grant opportunities when they become available. BOCES Grant Writers, or Tracy, may be reaching out to inquire about specific building or programming needs; please be kind and answer their emails/phone calls. This will include gather information related to the Consolidated Application 22-23 that applies for all Title funding, supporting the SCEP plans with SIG applications, and applying for new grants as they are released.
Looking for something to support your program initiatives? Contact Tracy to review grant opportunities.
