Dual/Concurrent enrollment for high school students is a program that allows students to simultaneously enroll in courses at both their high school and a local college. Students that participate in dual enrollment are beginning their official college record.
Dual/Concurrent enrollment provides students with the opportunity to earn both high school and college credits for the same course, effectively allowing them to get a head start on their college education while still in high school. It is important to note that not all credits are CSU/UC transferable.
Unlike AP classes, students do not have to pass an exam to earn college credit. College admissions counselors may consider dual credit grades during the admissions process. However, not all colleges accept dual/concurrent enrollment credits.
Earn College Credits
If you pass with a C or better, you can earn college credits for the courses you take.
Save Money Long Term
By taking courses while in high school you can reduce your overall post secondary cost.
Cost Effective
High school students can take college courses for free or at an affordable cost.
Accelerated Progress
Earning college credits in high school can allow students to graduate from college earlier or have more flexibility in their college schedules.
College Experience
It is a great opportunity to experience a course before becoming a college student.
