Sports News – May
By, Colton Rayfield
Here are some important upcoming fights:
Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena (May 10, 2025 – UFC 315)
I think Belal is going to win this fight because of his endurance and wrestling skills.
Merab Dvalishvili vs. Sean O'Malley (June 7, 2025 – UFC 315)
I’m not sure who will win this one. Both are exceptional fighters—Sean has elite striking, while Merab has incredible endurance and cardio.
Dustin Poirier vs. Max Holloway (June 19, 2025 – UFC 315)
I really want Dustin to win, but I don't think he will. It's his last fight, and Max is a very skilled fighter. Still, I hope Dustin can pull it off.
NFL Draft Highlights
One of the saddest moments of the draft was Isaiah Bond not being selected. He was one of the top prospects due to his speed and explosiveness. However, he was accused of sexual assault, which may have led teams to pass on him to avoid bad publicity.
Shedeur Sanders being drafted by the Browns is both good and bad. It's good because he made it to the NFL, but the Browns have a history of ruining quarterback careers. That said, they may have potential this year based on their draft picks:
Mason Graham – Round 1
Carson Schwesinger – Round 2
Quinshon Judkins – Round 3
Harold Fannin Jr. – Round 3
Dillon Gabriel – Round 4
Dylan Sampson – Round 5
Shedeur Sanders – Round 1
NBA Rookie of the Year – Stephon Castle
Stephon Castle has been named NBA Rookie of the Year. This marks the second year in a row the San Antonio Spurs have earned the honor, with last year’s award going to the 7’3” sensation, Victor Wembanyama.
Castle absolutely deserved it—he averaged 14.7 points per game in his rookie season. In my honest opinion, the recognition was fully earned.
