EOG Testing
By: Maddie Grill
Along with the end of the school year comes the EPGs. “EOG” stands for “End of Grade”, and is a standardized state test for North Carolina public schools. Students begin taking EOGs in third grade, and take them through 8th grade. In high school, students take EOCs, “End of Course” tests. EOGs help decide what classes we have next year, and how much we know from our current curriculum, so it’s important to try our best.
I think that these tests are a good way to group what each student has learned, but we shouldn’t have so much pressure to pass them. So, here’s some advice for them! First, just relax because stressing out may lower our grade. Second, try your best because these tests will decide which classes we have next year. And third, don’t be down about your score because EOGs do not define us. Let’s end this school year on a happy note!
The Last Week Of School
By: Mattie Zo Herring
The last week of school will be crazy. On May 15th, we will have an 8th grade science EOG and also a retest of the ELA EOG. On May 16th, we will have a field day which is exciting. On May 19th, we will have a fun incentive dance and it will also be the day for the retest of the math EOG. On May 20th, there is award day for the 6th and 7th grade. On May 21st, 8th graders will have their awards day and it is the last day of school, and a half day. I hope everyone has a good last week of school and a good summer!
Final Day For Grades
By Colton Rayfield
The final day for grades is on Friday, May 16th, 2025. I don't understand why they didn't make it the same day as the missing work deadline, because I feel like it would be simpler and a lot of people would be happier. It would eliminate the stress of other grades coming in and ruining their overall grade, which can make students feel depressed and stressed out. What if they fail because of it?
