MPMS Staff Interview: Nurse Charles

I interviewed the school nurse here at Mount Pleasant Middle School. Talking to him was really fun and I enjoyed asking him these questions. This is what he had to say

1. Why did you decide to become a school nurse?

Change of environment, different patients.

2. How long have you been a nurse?

13-14 years.

3. What does  a typical day look like?

Busy days, hit or miss, regular students for medicine.

4. What do you enjoy about being a nurse?

Interacting with students.

5. What is the hardest part of your job?

Trying to decide if a student is sick or  just wants to go home.

6. What skills are important for your job?

People skills, basic healthcare needs.

7. What education do you need for this job?

2 year program community college, 3 years of hospital experience.

8. What advice would you give someone who wants a job like this?

Get into your health science program at your school.

9. What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Kids coming in to talk with me.

10. Would you recommend this job to somebody else?

100% if you like interacting with other people.

11. Was this always your dream job?

Not school nursing being a nurse was always my goal, this just fell into my lap.

12. What do you enjoy the most in your free time? Hobbies?

I spend most of my time at the softball field, basketball court or golf course.

For the October Mount Pleasant Middle School staff interview I interviewed Mrs. Lambert. She is the new 7th grade ELA teacher. I am friends with her daughter and was excited to get to know her.

#1. What is your dream car?

Corvette or some type of convertible.

#2. What is your biggest pet peeve?

When people are late or mean.

#3. What instantly makes your day better?

A compliment from a student.

#4. What was the best day of your life?

When my daughter was born.

#5. What do you want written on your headstone?

I was loving, helpful, and a Christian.

#6. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Teaching at Mount Pleasant Middle School

#7. Where did you go to college?

UNC Charlotte.

#8. What is your favorite sport?

Cheerleading.

#9. What is your favorite holiday?

Christmas.

#10. What is on your bucket list?

Traveling to lots of places.

#11. Where do you want to travel to before you die?

Italy and Rome.

#12. What is something you can't go a day without?

Coffee.
