The Quad God, Is He Good Enough?
By: Olivia Taylor
Who is the Quad God? The Quad God is a twenty one year old figure skater named Ilia Malinin. Ilia had just performed in the 2026 winter Olympics in Milan, Cortina, Italy. Ilia got his title of the Quad God for his quadruple jumps that he includes in his routines. But why are these quadruple jumps so important for him to earn this title? While skating, Ilia performs quadruple axels, this is when you do four and a half revolutions in the air before landing. This move is particularly very tricky to perform and learn but Ilia Malinin is the only person to land these so far earning him the name of the Quad god. He has won a gold medal for his team, USA proving his title to the world until he performed his free skate
While Ilia Malinin started to prove his title it went all downhill when he performed his free skate. Ilia did not land many of his jumps taking off a crazy amount of 75 points. This made many people question if Ilia is good enough to perform in the olympics. But why would you question such a thing when he is the only person in the world to do a four and a half revolution? Ilia Malinin has gone through so much to get to the Winter Olympics, he claims he practices six hours a day and risks performing backflips on ice. Which is so much work to put on your body, add a title on top of that, and then perform on live television. It seems mentally and physically impossible to handle. I believe you shouldn't question such a thing when someone has so much weight they are carrying on their back. I have never tried ice skating but I do dance. As a dancer timing is everything, body strength is everything, but I can't imagine how much strength and work it takes to perform on ice. People really shouldn't be judging someone on one performance that went down hill because I know for sure that those people can't perform on ice or land a four and a half revolution. Those people are the ones that are all in for you until you mess up, then they point out your mistakes to everyone which is something no one wants. We all want to celebrate our mistakes and learn from them to be the best we can. But how can we do that if we have these kinds of people in the world bringing us down all the time? We can't. So I encourage you to celebrate his mistakes and pay attention to all the work he has put into performing in the Olympics because that is something worth attention. And I know for sure in the next winter Olympics he is bringing his game to the next level.
SUPERBOWL 60
By: Lucas Raven
The Superbowl was a game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots which was held on February 8th 2026. The game was held at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The game resulted in the Seattle Seahawks beating the New England Patriots 29-13.
Super Bowl 60 was so bad. First off, how did Jason Myers not win MVP? He had 17 points as a kicker! He had 100% field goal percentage and set a record for field goals kicked in a game. I mean Kenneth Walker had some good runs, but it didn't help them get into the end zone that often. But the Seahawks defense was amazing, They dominated with consistent pressure on Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. But on the patriots side of things Drake Maye was sacked 6 times, they turned over the ball 3 times, one resulting in a fumble that was run in for a touchdown by the Seahawks defense. And the Patriots were forced to punt in their first 8 possessions of the ball. But in my opinion the Superbowl had too many field goals and didn't have that much stuff to really get excited about, and I thought it was very boring. I give the Superbowl a ⅗ stars .
