Rothko's art was some of the first "minimalist" art. The idea of which is that different colors put together create a feeling. Art doesn't have to be realistic, it can simply be about color.
Pollack ~ splatter painting
Jackson Pollack challenged the idea that paintings must be done using a brush. He made huge paintings that he'd lay out on the floor of his studio. He'd crank up the music & dance around the painting, literally throwing buckets of paint all around the canvas. Many called these 'movement' paintings because the blobs & lines of paint appear to move around the space. Do not attempt this without parental permission please. LOL! Pollack's paintings are amazing in real life, layer after layer of paint.
