What makes something art? This is a question that people have debated forever. We've discussed it in art classes many times. The MET, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, has a show of beautiful Dior ball gowns. See the link above to read the article & see some of the amazingly beautiful dresses that Christian Dior has designed. Is a dress art? My wedding dress hangs on a wall at our house. Does that make it art? Can you design an interesting dress or costume of some kind?
Former GSB student, Amanda Wilson, is finishing up at MassArt soon. Amanda will have a degree in illustration but she also creates incredible costumes which she sells through instagram, you can see an example above. So proud of Amanda!
I wish that there was some way to track students when they leave GSB. Many students go to art school & have careers in art. Some of you will be professional artists when you grow up. Wouldn't that be great?! Dare to dream my young friends!! XO! K Hight
