Being able to write several pages in one sitting
Writing narrative stories with a balance of action, dialogue, description, and characters’ thoughts and feelings
Writing informational reports that combine information from more than one source, that flow smoothly, and are well organized (with an introduction, paragraphs focused on specific subtopics, and a conclusion)
Writing opinion essays that contain convincing arguments for their point of view and use evidence to back up their ideas
My goals for your child in writing:
To love writing
To be comfortable with revision
To convey a sense of voice that reflects their personality
To be able to articulate what other authors do that makes for strong writing and to emulate those craft moves in their own writing
