  3. discussed E and V for a uniformly charged wire

  4. began a formal introduction of capacitors...In looking for a relationship between the increase in potential difference and the increase in charge redistribution on the plates, an experiment was performed which showed that the energy vs. deltaV was top-opening...the energy was actually measured in 1/8ths of a turn of the Genecon...therefore, E is proportional to deltaV^2...since the units of this relationship would be J/V^2...one can show that C/V=J/V^2 from the equation of greatness...thus, C/V is a linear relationship and the equation that arises from that is Q=C(deltaV) where C is defined to be the capacitance (units of C/V or Farads)...Since the area under this curve has units of CV (or J), it must represent the energy stored in the capacitor...so, Eel=1/2(deltaV)(Q) = 1/2C(deltaV)^2 = Q^2/2C
