Artist Statement

I am forever grateful for the education and encouragement I received while attending ANC. I have always felt compelled to help others experience the joy of making art. When I graduated I was determined to return to my alma mater to teach. I believe that creating art is an exploration, and the resulting artwork, the byproduct of a search to better understand oneself and the world around us. Through my own searching I acquire knowledge which helps me to better guide my students. Making art makes me a better teacher and teaching makes me a better artist. I feel blessed to be able to work in a creative profession, in an exceptional school, surrounded by eager learners and creative thinkers.
