International Association for Media and Communication Research
I am pleased to welcome you to the 31st Annual Conference of the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC), being organized by the SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai, India’s commercial capital.
As Asia’s oldest communication association with a pan-Asian remit and research focus, AMIC has played a key role in promoting Asian scholarship in the field of media and communication and this conference promises to further strengthen this tradition, given its theme and the fact that it is taking place in a country with a distinctive large, multi-layered and multilingual media system.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend due to prior commitments on the dates of the conference, but I wish you all a wonderful conference in the ‘maximum city’ and hope to see many of you at IAMCR’s next annual conference in Galloway, in Ireland from 28th June to 2nd of July 2026.
Professor Daya Thussu
President of IAMCR (International Association for Media and Communication Research)
Greetings from the International Communication Association (ICA).
ICA and AMIC share a commitment to enhancing professionalism and scholarship in the communication discipline. Both our associations have a long history of cooperation, and ICA is keen to foster a closer partnership between our organizations in the coming years. This commitment resonates with ICA's recent efforts to expand its portfolio of regional collaborations, notably through our new regional chapters and conference hubs.
The theme of this year's AMIC conference, "Navigating Digital Transformation in Media, Public Relations, and Advertising," is well chosen. I wish you all a very successful and rewarding 31st AMIC annual conference.

AMIC has been a positive force in the field of communication/mass communication for more than 50 years and has emerged as one of the most important organizations in the field dedicated to showcasing and encouraging research and professional practices relevant to people and communities in Asia. AMIC conferences have been platforms for not only presentation of academic work, but also for community building, mentorship, and nurturing ideas focused on development and social welfare. I am excited to see that the upcoming conference is being held in Mumbai, India, and that it pursues the timely and relevant theme of digital transformation and its impact on media environments and society. I convey my best wishes for a successful conference to the organizers and the AMIC community.

World Journalism Education Council (WJEC)
On behalf of the World Journalism Education Council (WJEC), I warmly greet all participants of the 31st AMIC Annual Conference. AMIC and WJEC share a unique bond: it was during the AMIC conference in Singapore in 2007 that the first World Journalism Education Congress was launched — a milestone that continues to guide our global community.
AMIC has long been a pioneer in fostering ethical responsibility, inclusiveness, and innovation in media and communication across Asia. As you gather in Mumbai under the theme “Navigating Digital Transformation in Media, Public Relations, and Advertising,” your discussions could not be more timely. The integration of AI, algorithms, and new technologies challenges us not only to adapt, but to reaffirm our values, rethink education, and empower the next generation of communicators.
WJEC stands with you in this brave new digital world.
Warm regards,
