Technology

Amanda Sears & Beth Schwartz

Because modern society is increasingly influenced by rapidly advancing technologies, it is absolutely necessary for our teachers and students to understand technology if they are to function as informed voters, productive workers, and wise consumers of technological products and services.

Information fluency is the ability to perform effectively in an information-rich and technology-intense environment. The Internet is a powerful and growing tool that is an open global forum for anyone. One of the most important information fluency skills is teaching educators and students how to critically evaluate and utilize various ed tech. tools and websites.

As educators, we need to have the knowledge and willingness to teach students the practical methods for exploring the internet while using critical thinking skills. We need to educate our students on how to make meaning and gain proper perspective on what they encounter on the internet and while using a variety of technology.
