The focus of the biology here at Norte Vista is to use inquiry based and cooperative learning to explore the nature of science, how life interacts in the ecosystem, the production and consumption of energy in plants and animals, genetic inheritance, evolution by natural selection, and form and function of the human body. Our focus is to give students a hands on learning experience using laboratory activities, modeling, and collaborative learning.
Through acquiring biological knowledge and a conceptual understanding of biology students will also develop problem solving strategies and effective studying strategies. Meeting these goals will help students be better prepared to succeed in future science classes and can also be used in real life situations. The study of life is responsible for the improvement in our lives. The more informed we are about life, the better decisions we will make for ourselves as individuals, and our planet as a whole.
