Writing Accommodations Video 3 minute video for parents only. I just wanted to put this on one more time in case you didn't see this last week. You don't need to watch it again if you already saw it last week.
This week students will be writing a story that has characters, a setting, a problem and a solution and the project will take all week. Encourage detailed writing and detailed art work. Coloring is actually a good way to work on fine motor skills. Make sure your child knows that it's okay to make mistakes and that it doesn't need to look perfect. Please feel free to make accommodations if needed. I hope students will enjoy the writing process!
Part 1 of 2 for writing- video Read Biscuit with me: Identify Characters, setting, problem solution. This will set up our writing objective for today.
Part 2 of 2 for writing Story Map video: Create your story map. Link to story outline printable (or you can make one easy enough on your own.) What will be your characters, setting, problem, and solution?
Optional Extension: Go to the drop down page titled "Extensions". There are a lot of journal prompts for your child. This type of writing can be done the entire school year. Have your child choose a topic and write while you set a timer for 10 minutes. They should write on the same topic for the entire 10 minutes. Encourage them to fill an entire page and remind them to add as much detail as they can.
Unit 8 Lesson 1: Compare Lengths. Watch this video, then do the Homework page in your MyMath book (p.567-568).
