PARENT INFORMATION and FAQs

Friday, May 29

Dear Parents,

This week, I will be in teacher training meetings and preparing my classroom for summer checkout. I am posting some assignments for your child on this website. You may choose to replace these assignments with other activities that you feel are valuable. I will not be able to make any more teaching videos or hold any more Zoom meetings, but I will respond to emails. Thank you for a wonderful year. I have truly been blessed to know you and to work with you all!

FAQs

SUMMER LEARNING (I will include any Summer Learning updates here)

One of the benefits to the current online learning is that it has presented new ideas for ways to provide summer learning for those who desire it. I am currently formulating ideas on how to provide parents with resources for their child to continue to practice Spanish Literacy and Math over the summer. Here is a start:

  • Math: Your child will receive new Math books for 2nd Grade. You may do any of the pages in his 1st Grade books (classbook that I sent home in April AND the homework book that I sent home at the beginning of the year)

  • Math: Online access to GoMath: There are great lessons on Animated Math Models and Mega Math. Mega Math is in English and Spanish. I believe you will have access to GoMath throughout the summer.

  • Epic Books: I believe that you will have access throughout the summer, but I need to check.

  • Raz-Kids: I believe that you will have access throughout the summer, but I need to check.

  • Science:

  • Any other questions or things that you love from online learning that you would like me to include or add or check on?

Animal Report

Thank you for your questions on the Google Form! Hopefully I can clarify some things:

First of all, there are 3 parts to this project:

  1. Written report: Student will write the report with me during Reading Lesson Videos.

  2. Oral report: Student will practice reading the report with me during Reading Lesson Video and Zoom Meeting. Student should also practice reading the report aloud at home.

  3. Video of oral report: Parent will video the student as the student reads the report aloud. I will share all of the videos during an upcoming Zoom meeting.

Q: I don’t speak any Spanish and still feel a little unsure on what this is.

A: The first paper, the one with the 6 squares, is called a graphic organizer. It lets the kids know what information I want them to find out about the animal. We use that graphic organizer to transfer sentences on the lined paper. Then we will be practicing them, kind of a "choral reading" activity during the Reading Video and/or the Zoom Meeting. When I have done this in the past, I am able to watch how they're doing and help. They usually do really well. I originally was going to have them present "live" during the Zoom meeting but I felt that it would be better to have you video your own child so that they can really look and do their best.

Q: I don’t speak any Spanish...

A: One of the beautiful challenges of this program is that it "forces" the kids to have to pay attention and think about what I am saying or asking them to do. It's perfectly fine if you don't speak Spanish. I don't expect you to speak it! This is why I make the videos and walk the kids through step-by-step. They may misunderstand. They may do something incorrectly. This is okay as long as they are putting forth effort. It will push them and they will grow from the experience. They will really be okay!!

Q: Are we supposed to be doing additional stuff about the animal?

A: No. But you can if you want. There are two ways to do more, again, if you want. #1: In the packet of Animal Report pages, there is an extra blank paper with a blank space for a drawing and lines to write some additional information about their animal. They could include this in their report. #2: I started a Writing Padlet because some of the kids have been highly motivated to tell me more about different animals--1st graders love animals. Please don't feel like you have to do this if it is too much for you right now.

Q: Do you have a grading rubric for the report?

A: No. I will not be grading them at all. There are many purposes for this activity: listening comprehension, speaking, presenting, and writing. These are all categories on the Student Proficiency Report that I gave you in our February Parent Teacher Conference, in the area of Novice Mid, but again, there is no grade and no rubric, just a great experience for your child.

Q: Is there a place that gives the entire instructions for the animal report in written form?

A: Great idea! I sent an email on April 21.

Q: Will there be what is expected on this report in this week's assignments?

A: I try to include all of it in the Reading Lesson videos. However, it looks like some of you would like more detailed instructions so that you know what I am having your child do. So, as I mentioned above, I sent a detailed explanation in an email on April 21.

Q: Is my child supposed to use the word "La" or "Una" or "Las" before _______?

A: Yes. To say "the _____: Use el if the animal ends in "o". (like "perro") Use la if the animal ends in "a" (like "iguana"). The kids have been taught this in class, so it should be familiar to them. Besides, since this is immersion, it may just "feel right" to them, even if they can't remember the rule. Here are some examples:

  • el perro, el caballo, el cerdo, el gato, el delfĂn el pez, el pajaro, el ratĂłn, el colibrĂ

  • la mariposa, la vaca, la ballena, la serpiente, la iguana

Previous Parent Notes and Information

APRIL 14

First of all, I apologize that yesterday's email didn't go out until 10 a.m.! I had all of my lessons prepared and ready to go the night before, but when I checked my email in the morning, there was important information from the school district about Zoom. I needed to make sure I was complying with everything and then I hurried to get the email out to you.

So speaking of Zoom. All is going pretty well. Except for the microphones. Sometimes I try to turn them on, to give a child a turn to talk, but I can't. I think your child and I might be playing "microphone tag." I turn it on, he turns it off, I turn it on.... Just have your child never touch the microphone button.

Today's Reading Lesson Video and Graphic Organizer: It was brought to my attention that the graphic organizer in the purple book is different from the one in the packet I sent home. In my lesson, I use the one in the packet. I recommend this one. If you need another copy, it is on today's Printables section of this website. The video itself is pretty short. Yesterday, your child wrote his animal on the first line of each box. He/she also circled one thing about his/her animal in each box. Today, he/she will write the words for whatever he/she circled. I hope this isn't too tricky for them. For example, if he/she circled the sheep in the second box, he/she will write pelaje on the line. Pelaje means fur, so he will write that whether his animal is a dog, a sheep, a goat, a horse, etc. In that same box, he may have circled the fish. If his animal is a crocodile, a fish, a snake or an iguana, he will write escamas on the line because this means scales. Just have your child write what their own animal has. I walk them through each box and tell them the words. They may have to pause the video to write their word.

Tomorrow's Math will be an online Math Test. Just a heads up. I will give you more information tomorrow.

Thursday is the Teacher Parade. I'm looking forward to waving at your kids! If you can't come, I will make sure to leave some things for your child to do on this website.

APRIL 13

If you're like me, you may need some time to "get back in the swing of things" and remember how we're doing things. Please don't hesitate to email me with any questions. Just a couple of things for today:

  • Reading Lesson: I am starting their Animal Report today. I will walk them all the way through the writing part. When I do this in class, I am able to walk around and help them. Please let me know if you have any problems or questions. The only help they should need from you is a little bit of basic information about their animal. This is on the graphic organizer that I sent in the very first packet of papers. It is also in his/her purple book. He/she will need this for lessons this week.

  • Website Update: I have modified the look of my website. Hopefully it will be easier to use.

  • Zoom Meeting at 11:00 and 1:00.

APRIL 3

Epic Books: I have "assigned" about 100 books to the class of varying levels of ability and interest. Please allow your child to choose what they want to read. I looked last night and noticed that most of you have been able to get on. Many of the books read have been in English. Please encourage you child to choose books in Spanish during their Spanish time.

Zoom Meetings: While in the Waiting Room, if your child's name is not the one listed, please use the chat feature to send me your child's name in a private message. I may not be able to admit those who arrive after 5 minutes start time because I will be concentrating on the lesson.

Links: I have put the day's links on the date tab and the "regular" links below the Parent Information tab and the Gumball Math tab.

APRIL 2

TODAY'S LESSONS: I had computer/internet issues with the videos I made last night. Please see today's lesson plan for changes in Reading Lesson and Math Lesson. The rest should be the same.

Zoom Meetings: We are still having a few "glitchy" things with Zoom, I think it is still VERY worth using this platform. And the glitches aren't with Zoom, they are just issues with our big group of little kids figuring out how to use it. Some are with my computer program that doesn't like to work sometimes. With that being said, let me give you a few reminders and updates:

  • Zoom has established a "waiting room" which is an awesome idea for protecting the safety of your children. This means that Mrs. Welcker or I have to approve your child before he/she can enter. Important: Please change your child's name--first name. If it has the parent's name, we will not longer approve your child to enter the Zoom Meeting.

  • Please try to be on time. I really don't mind if you're late, and I know that it's usually not your fault because you're trying to connect to the internet. It's just that, now that I have to approve each child before he/she enters from the Waiting Room, I'm trying to do a lot of things at once, and I feel that it makes it hard for the children to pay attention. If your child is not there within the first 5ish minutes, I may not be able to have him/her enter.

  • Mrs. Welcker and I are going to mute all of the microphones and only unmute them when we call on a child. Your child will not be able to unmute himself/herself anymore.

Today's Reading Lesson Video: Your child will need his/her purple book and a pencil today. This is the purple spiral book from my stack of materials that we sent home on Monday.

APRIL 1

Zoom Meetings: I am loving the ability to see and talk with your kids. A couple of important things:

  1. Zoom just informed me that they will be adding a "waiting room" to all of their educational accounts. I really like this idea of course, because it keeps anyone out of our group who shouldn't be there, thus keeping our little ones safe. However, I am still a tiny bit unsure of what it will look like for us. So be patient while we get used to this new feature. Just so you know, I haven't had anyone try to enter our Zoom meetings who shouldn't be there.

  2. Please try to keep the light in front of your child. If there is a window behind him/her, we can't see his/her face very well.

  3. The microphone situation is not perfect, but I think these 6- and 7-year olds are doing great. When we need everyone to not talk, Mrs. Welcker and I will lock the microphones, but at other times, we will allow them to unmute when it is their turn to talk.

  4. During the group response portion of my lessons, i.e. answering the calendar questions, please encourage your child to respond orally, even though their microphone is muted. I assign a "group leader" to lead the answer and everyone should be saying it aloud at home. I will try to give more modeling of this.

Animal Reports: Hopefully, everyone had a chance to read the information in my Sunday/Monday email about animal reports. I will talk to the kids briefly about it in today's class meeting. I will show them the page in their purple books. I would appreciate it if, for now, you could just help them to start thinking about which animal they want to report about. Don't start writing yet. I have a format that I will be using.

MARCH 31

Zoom Chat: Mrs. Welcker will lead the Zoom meeting today at 11:00 and 1:00. Use the same link.

MARCH 30

Gumball Math leveled worksheets: In last night's/this morning's email, I said that I could email you more worksheets. Well, I was able to put them right here on this website! Just look below this yellow section. If your child was able to complete 49 or 50 correct in 5 minutes, he/she is ready to move to the next level. Thanks for doing this!

Zoom Chat: Mrs. Welcker will start leading the Zoom meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Still at 11:00 and 1:00. I will still do Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It's so fun to see everyone! I think the kids really love seeing their friends! We hope to be able to have both of us use the same link on Zoom, so just keep using the one you have been using.

MARCH 27

Zoom Chat: Sorry about the loss of WiFi signal during the 1:00 meeting! Not sure what happened.

One of the parents mentioned that *I* could mute everyone at the same time. Thank you! I know how to do it while we're on the main screen. I will learn how to do that while sharing a screen.

Catch-Up and Choice Time: I'm adding this category to Fridays. I hope it helps you.

Epic Reading Online: You have the class code. However, I just learned that in order for your child to be able to access the books, the teacher has to give them *your* email for them to invite you. I won't do that without your permission. They have some good books in Spanish and English. If you want it, please let me know and I will give them your email to invite you.

Monday's Grab and Go for materials: I'm not sure if I will be sending stuff home. I will be working today and tomorrow to figure it out. Please check here on Monday morning before you go to grab materials from me.

Enjoy your weekend! You guys are truly amazing!!!

MARCH 26

Zoom Link: The link should be the same today. However, someone told me that there will be a new link every time we have a new meeting. So far, that has not been the case because I have not closed that tab on my computer. If we need to have a new link, I will need to have a way to communicate it to you that is both easy and secure. My ideas are: this FAQ tab, in the daily lesson, or a daily email. I know there's an option to invite on the Zoom site itself, but if I have to physically type in the email for 64 students for every session, I don't think that would work for me. What do you all think? If you know more about this than I obviously do, please feel free to email me about it and share your ideas.

Zoom Meeting : A couple of last minute notes:

  • I am going to try to keep this class meeting to 20 minutes maximum. I think if we go longer than that, the kids may get restless and the activity will be less effective. I will set my alarm to keep me on time.

  • I will really try to give every child a chance to respond at least once. However, if the group is very large, that may not be possible. I am keep a written checklist, so that, if he/she didn't get to ask or answer a question, he/she will be able to do so in the next meeting.

  • I will start the meeting at 11:00 and 1:00. I will start with a music video or two for the first 2-5 minutes to allow time for everyone to get on. These are songs that are familiar to the kids. In class, I allow them to listen, watch, sing, dance, or read to them (most will be in their yellow songbook).

MARCH 25

  • Zoom Update: Thanks everyone for joining in our 1:00 class meeting! It was awesome to see everyone! The group was pretty big, and I think that was fun for the kids to see their friends. But it allowed for fewer opportunities for everyone to be able to talk, which is one of my primary purposes. However, I still think it's an amazing platform and I want to continue to use it. Please email me with suggestions on how to tweak it and I will then prepare a survey for you to let me know what would be best for the most families. Now to learn how to do that hahaha!

  • Daily Tabs: I want the daily activities tab to be as useful to you as possible, so I made the following changes. I hope you love them:

      • Parent Planning Sheet: No change, but I hope it's helpful to you to be able to print out, check off, etc.

      • Daily Video Links: I put them all at the top. Now you don't have to scan through the whole page to find the one you're ready for.

      • Weekly Printables: These are sheets that you may want to print out, depending on which activities you choose for your child.

  • Thank You: My eyes are watering as I think of everything you parents are doing right now. This is certainly something none of us ever imagined we would be doing. Most of you probably never thought you'd be educating your child at home. You never thought you'd have to distance yourselves from other people. You are trying to juggle concerns about your family, your job, your health, and your child's education. I am so proud of you. I applaud your efforts. I hope I can make it easier for you. Please know that I care about you all!

MARCH 24

Please see your March 23 email for

  • Link to Google Meeting

  • Link and Password to Math Padlet

Google Meeting: Yesterday's first Google Meeting was great! It was admittedly a little messy since it was the first time for most of us, including me but I loved the face-to-face with the kids!! It was also a good first Speaking and Listening activity as well as a review of important conversation phrases. With online learning being extended to May 1, I think that the "google meeting" will be a critical piece of our program. If you missed today's meeting for whatever reason, don't worry. By the way, I really *was* there on time for the 1:00 meeting--hahaha--just the wrong meeting apparently. Thanks for waiting for me.

Anyway, a couple of things I learned from today's meeting:

  • Remind the kids how to do that before we start:

    • Turn OFF your microphone until I call on you. After you answer, turn it back off. (Red = OFF)

    • Turn ON your camera. Please leave it on the whole time. (White = ON)

    • Type your name (the child's name) in the comments/message icon. I think this might help me know who is there.

  • When we are doing group responses, like during the actual Calendar Time, please have your child respond outloud (not in their head). I'm going to ask 1 child each day to leave his/her microphone on so that we have an model. However, everyone everyone else please have microphones off during group responses.

  • Just so you know, as we get more comfortable with Google Meet, I will begin having students lead the calendar. They do this in class.

  • As we get more comfortable with Google Meet, I will also begin having students ask and answer each other questions. They do this in class too.

  • It's probably better if you don't use the messaging feature (except when typing their name at the very beginning). I can't keep up with it since the questions and answers are so quick. Sorry that I didn't respond to those of you who messaged me; that's why.

  • If you can tell me how to get all of the kids' picture on the screen at the same time, please email me. I'm thinking of something that covers the whole screen in a sort of checkerboard pattern.

  • If, for any reason, you feel you need to leave the meeting before I end it, I understand. I will try to keep these to about 15-20 minutes in the future.

Math Padlet:

A couple of kids have been motivated to try it out. Yay!! I really like this app for what we are doing with Math Word Problems. They can draw, type, and see each other's solutions. I can comment on them right there. I think it will be much easier and more effective than the draw+photo+email method that we are currently doing. Just don't upload any photos or videos yet. By the way, have been able to use it on my computer, my iPad, and my android phone. I hope you will have your kids give it a try.

March 23: In an effort to meet the different needs of different famiies during this At-Home Learning time, I have made some changes that I am hoping will help you. I am trying to find the best way I can to help your kids continue while we have to stay at home. I think I have come up with some ideas that will help them and still be manageable for parents at the same time.

  1. This Parent Information Tab: Instead of a million emails from me, it will all be here together.

  2. A Parent Planning Sheet that you can print out or refer to on the Legacy Online page

  • prioritized activities: some parents want less work and some want more, but all want to do what's most important

  • choice of activities: choose one each day from interactive, web-based only, or paper only

  1. Interactive Learning

  • This is super-new so please be patient while we all figure it out. If online learning is still overwhelming, you may want to wait until we work out the kinks. However, I am ready to try it out and several parents have expressed an interest as well, so here goes:

  • Padlet: Students can draw their Math Word Problem right on the computer or iPad. I'd like to start doing this instead of having you email it to me. I have a video that explains it, but it's super easy. CLICK HERE for the video that explains the Padlet to parents.

  • Google Meet: Video chatting in a group at 11:00 and 1:00. We'll be doing our Calendar, and maybe some other talking. I can't wait to see how it goes!

  1. On-line/Video-based instruction. I am creating daily videos for:

  • Reading

  • Math

  • Calendar Time

March 20 Summary of emails to date. After today, (March 20) I will update at the top of this page whenever I have new information or need to correct or clarify something.

Link to Legacy Online Website:

Think Central (GoMath) Login:

      • Username: Your child's Student ID on Skyward--the one that starts with 93...(7 digits long)

      • Password: Your child' last name, beginning with a capital letter

Finished Work:

  • Save finished Reading worksheets in a folder.

  • Do not save finished Math worksheets.

  • Save blank papers. I may use them later.

  • Math Word Problem: Send me an email with either a photo of your child's paper or a video of your child doing and explaining their work. I will try to send a response that you can share with your child.

Math Word Problems

  • I would really like your child to explain their thinking while they are solving the problem. Encourage them to talk, correcting them as necessary. If you send me a video, have your child do it in Spanish. I don't expect perfection.

  • I will be using some of the student work in later lessons. I feel that this helps kids to see alternative ways of thinking. I will not show student names when I share it in my lesson. I will also not show videos of children without obtaining parent permission first.

  • We were doing this the last week at school, so they should be very familiar with it.

Reading Worksheets:

  • Don't try to do the worksheets on your own. The videos should walk your child through the worksheets, at least these early ones. They should wait to write anything down until I show them in the video.

Management:

  1. My online work should not take longer than 1 hour. I understand that it may take longer the first few days, but after that, if it is taking longer than 1 hour, something needs to be changed--probably by me. If any of my lessons seem confusing, please let me know! If the task seems too hard, there is something that I need to fix or clarify.

2. If you get behind for some reason, don't worry!! Let me know and we will figure out what we can cut out or change.

3. I will try to keep to the same or similar routines in daily tasks and lessons. Hopefully this will make it easier for you and your child

4. I want the work I give to be significant to your child’s progress in Spanish—Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing and Math

Yellow Songbook and QR codes

In the yellow songbook that I sent home, I included QR codes and links to the YouTube videos that the songs in the book come from. I was excited to put this together for you so that your kids could “read” their favorite songs. I since have realized that there is some concern over the use of YouTube videos, so I apologize for this because the links and QR codes will take you YouTube for the songs. If you are concerned about having these links on the page, here are some ideas:

  • Cover or cut out the QR code and link from your child’s songbook.

  • Make sure you are with your child when he/she is watching the song videos.

  • Set your YouTube filter to the safest setting.

  • Don't use the songbook or songs

  • Ask me for a digital copy of the songbook without the QR codes

I have given songbooks to my students in previous years, but before I added the links for this edition, they could really only use them at school because parents were not familiar with the songs. It has been so fun to watch them really want to read in Spanish because they are familiar with the songs.

In the future, I will find other ways for the kids to have access to this awesome literacy resource. And just so that you know, the kids are never exposed to inappropriate music, videos, or commercials in my class.

Teacher Parade at 9:00

Below this tab are previous weeks' lessons.

Monday, May 18

NOTE FROM MRS. WELCKER AND MAESTRA AMY:

I will continue to post stuff for the next two weeks in case you are wanting to continue with your school-at-home routine. You've done a great job teaching your children this year. Your child may have some catching up to do next year but everyone will be fine moving on to Second Grade so enjoy your summer and don't let the learning end.

I will also send an email with this information, but below is an explanation of the Report Card scores.

MAY 2020 FIRST GRADE REPORT CARD

Your child’s End-of-Year Report Card will soon be available on-line. Below is the key we have assigned to the scores 1-4. Please also be aware that this year, because of the unique circumstances due to the soft closure of schools since March, P and N may also appear on your child’s report card.

P (pass) and N (needs improvement) may be assigned if there hasn’t been sufficient time to teach, assess, reteach and provide interventions on any given standard.

4: Most First Grade standards do not lend themselves to a 4. Your child may receive a 4 in Language Arts in the Reading Grade Level Text category if s/he is currently reading fluently and accurately with good comprehension above grade level. All other standards will be graded on a 1-3 scale

3: This marking indicates MASTERY: Your child independently and consistently meets the standard.

2: This marking indicates NEAR MASTERY of the standard. S/he requires a little more practice or a little more coaching, but s/he is almost there.

1: This marking indicates that your child has NOT YET MASTERED the standard and requires additional focused support and interventions. Because we were unable to provide these interventions at school during the final three months we will make sure to address them at the beginning of next year. Remember that all the children are in the same situation. If your child receives a 1 there are or will be interventions in place for next year to support him/her in meeting the standard. Your child is young and resilient and will be just fine, but you may want to incorporate instruction time into your summer schedule to give him/her the advantage s/he may need.

  1. Math Review: These 3 new Math Videos that don't go with any particular lesson but I thought might help some of your kids. They are about why I use those little blue sticks and green cubes. Even though we have been using them since the beginning of the year, some of the kids still might benefit from it. Each video is 2-4 minutes long:

Parents, this week's assignments are all review. Please feel free to adjust as needed based on you, your child, and your family situation.

My final Zoom Meeting will be today at 11:00. No Zoom on Friday.

Aarrgghh! So sorry about today's Zoom Meeting interruption! My husband and I sold our house and are moving tomorrow. I forgot that the internet was to be shut off today! It happened right during the middle of our meeting haha! Luckily, I was able to get back on using a wifi hotspot. Oh my!

And thank you Maestra Cindy for leading the Zoom meeting! I wanted her to have a chance to meet with the kids and I had forgotten to schedule it. I ended up asking her at the VERY last minute (i.e. right as the meeting started). She has been a dream to work with these past two years, and today was another example of her willingness to do whatever is needed. Love you Maestra Cindy!

Monday, April 20

I hope you all had a great weekend! Just a couple of notes:

  • Several students have not taken the Math Chapter 6 Test online yet. Please let me know if you need any help getting onto the site or taking the test.

  • I introduced the kids to the Science Writing Padlet in today's Reading Lesson Video. The link is on this website. The password is the same as the other Padlet. This would be a Priority 2 Assignment.

  • Look for an email from me about your child's Gumball Math scores. I sent it this morning. I have figured out how to let you send them to me that will (hopefully, hahaha) be easier for both of us!

  • In the same email this morning, I also sent information and a link about the Animal Report. I would really appreciate it if you could fill it out so that I can guide my planning and instruction.

No assignments for today. I want to leave the time open for you to come to the "parade" if you want without having to spend too much time on school stuff. Watch for my little white car with a sombrero on top!

No Zoom Class Meeting today.

I will post some things for your child to do in case you would rather not come to the parade but still want to give your child some school work to do to keep the routine running. Not required. It's totally up to you.

No Regular Priority Assignments, but if you want to, choose from the following activities:

  • Download and print your Gumball Math level worksheet and do as many problems as you can in 5 minutes.

  • Read and/or listen to books in Spanish on either Raz-kids or Epic Books

  • Check out and do some activities from the Specialties Class teachers' tab on the school website.

  • Do some activities from the PTA's Recyclable Art Week email sent to parents from PTA.

Friday, April 17

It was great to see so many of you yesterday at the parade!

3 parents have told me that their GoMath username and/or password is not working for them. I don't know why it's a problem, but it seems to be a password issue. Please let me know if you have this problem--I cannot see your password, but I can go in and change it. Let me know if you have this issue and I will be happy to go in and reset your password asap.

1. Day 2 Video

  • MATERIALS: Graphic Organizer from the materials packet--click here to see what it looks like. It's the same one we used yesterday.

  • Watch the Video 2. Click here for a link to the video. While you are watching, pause the video and fill in the graphic organizer with Maestra Amy.

    • IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PARENTS: The worksheet question at the top says, "What do plants and animals need?" This is the overarching question of the 8-day unit. It is confusing (and I apologize for this) because the purpose of this worksheet is a vocabulary lesson to prepare the students to comprehend the story. THIS worksheet will just make two lists: one of plants in the story, and one of animals in the story. Later, in other lessons, we will have worksheets that talk about what plants and animals need. They should just follow the video and fill in the worksheet along with me. I apologize for the confusion.

2. Listen to, read, and sing 3 or more songs:
