Social Skills: Filtering Our Thoughts
This month we discussed perspective and that if we don't look at another persons perspective it can possibly have negative consequences on our relationships. With perspective, we use optical illusions to understand that there may be two very different perspective yet they both can be correct.
We move into learning a technique to help us in filtering our thoughts before speaking.
First: Think it.
We can't control what we think. We can control what we say.
Second: Breathe it.
This gives us a natural moment to pause before blurting out our thought.
Third: Decide to Keep it or Speak it
From this point, we decided if the comment needs to be said or if we should keep it and say something different instead.
