A redesign is a blueprint for what kind of process we hope to make possible together. This step involves collaborative time that is spent brainstorming break through concepts such as "more formative review" and "connect this process to other processes" before putting the entire vision together as the "redesign."
This redesign began in mid-April 2021. Prior to the redesign work, UAF Faculty Senate reviewed and endorsed the formation of an ad hoc committee through a memo passed through faculty senate. From there, a smaller team over the summer imagined and began to reach out to colleges and units to imagine the new cycle together, develop drafts of reporting templates, develop an intentional, and standardized, approach to data, research possible ways of syncing the new process with existing processes so as to discover efficiencies, and finally share all that work on this website for input and feedback.
Our proposal includes intentional synching with existing university timelines, including Spring Semester workload agreements and annual data pull cycles. This means we are looking for UAF Faculty Senate as a governing body to endorse our proposal before Spring Semester 2022. In August 2021, we are turning over our proposal to the Curricular Affairs Committee and the Graduate Affairs Committee to work through concerns prior to submission to Faculty Senate.
